About Me

Hello! My name is Kristin Heenan.  I am 23 and originally from Chicago, Illinois.  I have a dog, one sibling, and I love to dye my hair funky colors. I came to University of New England in order to study environmental science with a minor in animal behavior.  I decided to study this in order to see how we affect the environment and the animals within that environment.  I volunteer at Runs with Wolves Sanctuary in Limington, Maine where I give the wolves their daily enrichment, take care with them, build a bond with the pack, and educate the public on why they should not be domesticated.  This summer I am starting an internship as a research assistant and the Wells Reserve of Laudholm, which will be my topic for my blog posts.  While working at the Wells Reserve I will be monitoring and releasing cottontail bunnies, monitoring and educating the public on piping plovers, and working on habitat restoration.
